Motivational Interviewing Course

The Northeast District will host a 2-hour online webinar on Motivational Interviewing with guest speaker, CPTA Director Oscar Gallardo.
The course will be offered on July 23, 2020 with CEUs pending.
Description: This course will introduce participants to Motivational Interviewing (MI) and its effectiveness as a clinical intervention across various settings. Content will consist of clinical examples in the use of MI as well as review of literature highlighting use of MI in different patient populations.
Objectives:
-Present literature regarding effectiveness of MI interventions in different clinical settings
-Introduction of Motivational Interviewing principles
-Demonstrate application of MI techniques via case study examples
Presenter Bio:
Oscar Gallardo, PT, DPT is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy since 2006 and has been employed at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center since 2003. Dr. Gallardo is also an Adjunct Instructor of Clinical Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. Other interests include: community wellness, and local and international physical therapy service and outreach. He is an active member of the California Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association where he has held various appointed and elected positions.
